Description

Details

Designed by Jean Prouvé when we was originally commissioned by the Solvay chemical company. The design came at a time when metal was scarce due to World War II and as a result made use of wood for the majority of the construction. This piece inspired the later EM Tables which employed a steel frame in place of the wooden legs.

This is a fine example of Jean Prouvé's work and illustrates the interplay of forces and stresses through its structural details. The Table Solvay is a refined piece that would make an attractive addition to numerous spaces, its solid wood is oiled to bring out the natural beauty of the top quality wood it is produced from.
