The Akari Light Sculptures were designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951 and the original collection included over 100 lights. Handmade Shoji-paper models of table, floor and suspension lamps were created. Some of the lights are partially painted with patterns. The structure of the lights is made from bamboo and steel wire whilst the feet are painted steel. The Japanese word 'akari' means brightness, light and lightness. A stunning collection of lights that each come in their own presentation box.
