Gubi Desks

Gubi was founded by Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen who began making furniture more than fifty years ago. Gubi are famous for blurring the past, present and future and creating design-led pieces of furniture which are simply timeless.

Gubi pride themselves on bringing back iconic designs of the past for use today. Designer Greta Grossman was a somewhat forgotten designer until her stunning designs were discovered by Gubi and reproduced.

In her time Grossman was a key figure in both Sweden and California and her achievements were prolific across interior and industrial design and architecture. Grossman’s work was exhibited in museums all over the world including MoMA in New York.

Along with a number of Grossman’s designs, Gubi has reproduced the Grossman 62 Desk. This was a desk that was immediately seen as being ahead of its time and as such it was named ‘62’ which was a decade into the future in 1952.

Influenced by European Modernism, Grossman played an important part in defining the aesthetic of mid-century Californian Modernism. Today Grossman’s original designs are auctioned across the world and Gubi reproduce her designs using their skilled craftsmanship.

The Gubi Grossman desk has a high gloss laminate top and slender powder-coated steel legs which stand in contrast to the rectangular body.

To this day, the comfort, durability and ergonomics of Gubi desks make them the perfect choice for a modern office.

A workspace that looks good can also help you to be more productive, with the Gubi desk itself becoming a focal point in an office rather than simply a functional item of furniture.
