Artek Stools

Established in 1935 by the architect Alvar Aalto, his wife Aino, art historian Nils-Gustav Hahl and visual arts promoter Maire Gullichsen, the Finnish furniture brand Artek’s ethos was to ‘sell furniture and promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means’.

Today, the brand stands for clarity, functionality, and poetic simplicity, with pieces created by both Finnish and international designers.

Whether you’re looking for bar stools for your kitchen or occasional seating for your living room, the range of Artek stools will ensure you can seat every guest in style.

Designed by llmari Tapiovaara in 1954, the iconic Artek Lukki stool features a painted steel tube frame with a beech veneered and birch plywood seat. The stacking design is extremely versatile and the choice of three colours means you can mix and match to suit your home decor.

The Artek 60 stool was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1933. The simple, stacking design represents functionalist furniture design and has truly stood the test of time. The round seat atop three curved legs is distinctive, with the ‘bends’ eventually becoming the distinctive feature of all Aalto furniture.

The stool is also available in a four-legged version.

Designed by Eero Aarnio, the Artek EA001 Rocket stool adds an element of fun to any room in your home. Inspired by the shape of a rocket, this versatile stool is available in oak or lacquered black, red, white or blue.

The Rocket stool is also also available in a smaller design, called the Baby Rocket stool.
